What is a drive by?

A drive-by is a form of attack where the assailant uses a vehicle, usually a car or motorcycle, to quickly approach a target, fire a weapon, and then flee the scene before authorities can arrive. Drive-bys are often associated with gang violence and are usually carried out with the intention of causing harm or intimidation. These types of attacks are often difficult to solve because the assailants are able to escape quickly and may not leave behind much evidence. Drive-bys can be extremely dangerous and can result in serious injury or death to the victims.
